Tasmania 2017

Finally our trip to Tasmania came to end......don't want to finish it so soon, but reality strike and need to start daily routine again.

As usual I am writing bit of trip summary, which will be helpful for us and for others.

1. Tasmania - smallest state of Australia.

2. Coverage - covered all directions and major tourist spots of Tasmania with spending 1850 kms on road.

3. Best of trip - Cradle Mountains and various short treks around Dove lake

4. Disappointment - MONA at Hobart. Maybe not of our taste with lot of details and limited upfront interest.

5. Surprise - Bay of Fires and beaches around north-east coast of Tasmania. Lonely planet has mentioned this place as the hottest tourist destination in world.

6. Must do at Tasmania - Cradle Mountains, Bay of Fires, Port Arthur and Glasswine Bay at Freycinet National Park

7. What we missed - Bruny Island and Gordon River Cruise at west coast

8. What you can miss - Staying at Queenstown or nearby mining towns

9. What we tried different in food - Scallop Pie

10. What kids enjoyed the most - Remarkable caves at Port Arthur and White sand beaches at East coast

11. Animals spotted - Wombat, Pademelon, Little Penguins, Echidna, Kangaroos etc

12. Water falls - Russel waterfall, Kynvet waterfall, and Horsetail waterfall

13. Major towns covered - Hobart, Launceston, Davenport and Burnie

14. Mining towns covered - Queenstown, Zeehan, Tullah and Rosebery. Few of these towns are no more happening places anymore. We even struggle to get coffee.

15. Lakes Covered - Lake St Claire, Dove Lake, Mackintosh Lake. The deepest is Lake St Claire with 160 m depth and prettiest is Dove lake at Cradle Mountains.

16. Adventure - Mt Wellington at Hobart and Remarkable Caves at Port Arthur

17. National Parks covered - Mt Field, Franklin & Gordon, Freycinet, Douglas-Apsley, Cradle and St Lake Claire National Park

18. Precaution - must go with enough winter clothes even in summer, if you are visiting cradle mountains.

19. One thing needs attention - wildlife being killed on Tasmanian roads. Suggestion is: avoid traveling at night

20. Overall Tasmania is worth visiting again in future with new adventures and additions in travel plan.
